For parents and teens, traveling and vacationing together can often be stressful;
while parents generally hope quality together time will strengthen the bonds, for
a number of teenagers they could not imagine a worse vacation as they are at the
difficult point in their lives where they are struggling to create independence
from parents and acceptance from their peers. Fortunately, Kealakekua Hale has five
spacious rooms, and 5 ½ bathrooms, providing just the right amount of personal
space. Many of the rooms have balconies making it possible to feel as if you have
your own little slice of paradise.
One of the biggest attractions for adults and teens on the big island of Hawaii
is right outside the back door, Kealakekua Bay. Home to spinner dolphins, turtles
and a healthy reef, teens can snorkel, kayak, swim and explore in a reasonably independent
fashion while parents can be close enough to join in, or discreetly check in from
time to time. Hawaii also has a number of activities that are teen and family focused.
If you have specific questions about these big island activities, please drop us
a line; with teenage daughters of our own we can provide some insight, guidance
and empathy.
